Hi, welcome to AICREATIVV! Before you start reading this blog entry, Hariisah recommends the song above— do consider having a listen as you read!

Hariisah Halwa’s First Steps into Copywriting

When Hariisah Halwa first joined AICREATIVV, she came in with one clear thing: curiosity.

She was curious about how a digital marketing agency actually worked — because to her, it wasn’t even something she fully knew existed. That curiosity was what brought her here in the first place. What she didn’t expect, though, was how quickly that curiosity would turn into a deeper understanding of what goes on behind the scenes.

One of her earliest realisations was surprisingly simple. The work she was doing — writing captions, shaping messages, thinking about tone was actually called copywriting. Before this, she had assumed content worked differently. Visuals, in her mind, only came from Google. It didn’t occur to her that there were designers behind them, like Iman Shamsuddin, AICREATIVV's Lead creative designer carefully crafting each visual to match the message.

That moment shifted something. Work stopped feeling random, and started to feel intentional.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

Coming from a Business Management background, Hariisah Halwa expected at least some overlap between what she learned in class and what she would be doing here. Instead, she found herself navigating something entirely new.

In school, discussions around marketing were relatively straightforward — focusing on tone, problems, solutions, and target audiences. But as she sat in the room with Amal Osmera for discovery sessions, she began to see a different layer to the work. Conversations extended beyond structure into things that are harder to define, like culture, emotion, and the subtle “x-factor” that makes something resonate.

It made her realise that writing isn’t just about what you say, but about understanding why it matters in the first place.

Finding Her Voice Across Different Clients

As she started working on real projects such as STAC to KUS and corporate clients, another shift began to happen.

Corporate work felt more structured. With guidance from Amal Osmera, she found it easier to follow a clear direction and execute what was needed. But when it came to SME clients like KUS, the process felt very different.

She had to move away from formal English and adapt to a more conversational Bahasa Brunei tone. On top of that, KUS content leaned heavily into trends, which meant she had to constantly keep up with what was current and relevant. It wasn’t just about writing anymore — it was about staying aware, adapting quickly, and understanding how people actually engage with content.

That challenge pushed her out of her comfort zone, but it also helped her grow.

From Confused to Clear

Looking back at her first week, Hariisah Halwa laughs a little.

It wasn’t just confusing — it was very confusing.

She wasn’t sure if she was doing things right, and there was a constant worry about making mistakes or not understanding tasks properly. But instead of staying quiet, she leaned into what came naturally to her: asking questions.

A lot of them.

Sometimes, maybe a bit too much. There were moments where it didn’t land perfectly — like when she kept asking Haziyah Azalmey about her preferences, not realising how it might come across at first. But those moments became part of her learning curve.

Over time, things started to make sense. With support from the team, especially Nuur Batrisyia Ali, who helped her feel comfortable and encouraged her to be herself, only then did Hariisah Halwa began to find her rhythm.

Today, her tasks feel clearer. She understands tone better, and she has a stronger sense of how to approach her work.

Small Wins That Meant Something Bigger

Growth didn’t come all at once. It came through small, steady moments.

Finishing her work on time and feeling satisfied with it. Being involved in meetings, both inside and outside the office. Learning how to communicate more confidently within the team, even if networking externally is still something she’s working on.

One moment that stood out to her was when she was asked to help prepare content for months of Instagram and TikTok posts. It made her realise just how much planning and detail goes into the work.

More importantly, it made her realise that what she was doing wasn’t just practice.

It was real work, for real clients.

The Curious Gyal

If there’s one thing that defines Hariisah Halwa, it’s curiosity.

She’s constantly trying to understand how things work. From asking herself the how, the what, and the why behind everything she does. Sometimes, her curiosity even goes beyond what’s directly relevant to her role, but that’s part of what keeps her learning.

Of course, there are still overwhelming days. But even then, she finds small ways to keep herself going. Sometimes, it’s as simple as telling herself that once she finishes a task, she can reward herself with rest.

It’s a small mindset shift, but one that helps her stay grounded.

Still Learning, Still Becoming

If she could go back and speak to her first-day self, she wouldn’t overcomplicate it. She’d simply say: you can do it — don’t be scared.

Now, she feels more comfortable in the environment she once found intimidating. She understands her role better, communicates more clearly, and approaches her work with more confidence.

She’s still learning. Still figuring things out. But that’s part of the journey.

Because at AICREATIVV, she didn’t just come in curious.

She’s learning how to become.

Favourite Moments Along the Way

And in between all the work, there are the moments that make the experience what it is.

From unboxing Sonny Angels and Popmart finds, to blasting music together after working hours, or when we did Hari Raya shopping and decorated the office, to lunch outings that slowly turn teammates into friends.

Because sometimes, the most meaningful growth doesn’t just happen in the work itself.

It happens in the moments in between.
