MINI BLOG — SERIES 005

For a while, projects felt heavier than they should have. Everyone was working hard, but things kept slowing down between handovers, reviews, and approvals. We wanted to make sure everything was right, so we checked, rechecked, and checked again. Nothing was technically wrong, but work started spending more time waiting than moving. Little by little, progress became dependent on the next reply, the next confirmation, or the next round of feedback.
This year, we decided to lean into our 2026 motto: Makasero — “I leave it to you.” It sounds simple, but it required a real shift in how we worked. We started trusting people with responsibilities they would previously pass upward or wait for permission on. It felt uncomfortable at first. There were mistakes, and there were moments where it would have been easier to jump back in and take control. But something interesting happened...
People started taking greater ownership of their work.
Drafts became cleaner.
Decisions became faster.
Confidence started showing up in places where hesitation used to live.
What surprised us most was how trust changed the flow of work. When people know they are trusted, they pay attention differently. They become more invested in the outcome because they know it belongs to them too. Of course, trust doesn’t mean abandoning standards or ignoring mistakes. It means creating enough clarity, support, and accountability for people to move forward confidently. Looking back, Makasero was never just about delegation. It was about building belief in each other. And sometimes, the fastest way to help someone grow is to step back and say,
“I leave it to you.”
